Basic Sexual Health Awareness

Participants learn the fundamental theory underpinning concepts such as sexual orientation, sex and gender; how that impacts on health behaviour in the primary health care and other front line service settings.

By gaining greater knowledge participants can easily apply the principals in this programme to improve their service delivery and feel more comfortable when dealing with issues around the sexuality of their clients e.g. relationships and sex between the elderly, the young and questioning sexual orientation.

Group activities encourage open debate about how the sexual self of clients and workers impact on their well-being and what happens when differing views interact.

The presentation itself allows participants to voice their views and to challenge their own perceptions as well as the perceptions of others safely.

Participants are given contact details and continued advice and support should they require it. References are available for the research used to build this programme.
